Good morning. Here’s what you need to know to start your Thursday.

Get ready for some snow. Northeast Minnesota could see up to a foot of the fluffy stuff, and much of the state is going to get some snow and rain-snow mix. Twin Cities will get less than an inch of snow accumulation, but there’s a near 100 percent chance of precipitation. Metro highs in the upper 30s during the day and lows near 20 at night. Statewide, highs range from mid 20s in the northwest to mid 30s and lower 40s in the southeast. Overnight lows fall between 13 and 21 in greater Minnesota. More on Updraft. | Forecast

Mayor Melvin Carter proposes to spend $1.7 million to curb violence in St. Paul that has claimed 30 lives so far this year. Carter called his proposal a community-first approach, one he says that does not include more police officer positions.

Democrats battled it out again last night. There was talk on impeachment, economics, health care and plenty more. After a slow start to the fifth Democratic presidential debate, the surging Pete Buttigieg parried attacks on race and his level of experience. Here are 5 takeaways from the debate.

Just about everyone was “in the loop” on the Ukraine affair. That’s the main takeaway from testimony by Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union who testified at the latest impeachment hearing. Bicyclist killed in downtown Minneapolis crash with semi. WCCO-TV reports, “Police say the bicycle and the truck, which was pulling a construction trailer, were both traveling in the same direction on 12th Street North towards Hennepin Avenue. The truck made a right turn at a red light onto Linden Avenue. The man who was riding the bicycle then struck the truck and was killed.”

Health officials have pinpointed a cause for a recent Hepatitis A outbreak. The culprit: blackberries sold in Fresh Thyme grocery stores.
