When you poke you head outdoors Sunday morning, it’ll probably be a bit warmer than it was when you turned off the lights Saturday evening.
And it’ll be windy. Wind advisories cover most of Minnesota on Sunday:
The wind advisory starts at 3 a.m. Sunday in southwestern Minnesota and at 6 a.m. Sunday in the northwest. The Twin Cities metro area is in a wind advisory from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday:

Northern Minnesota and parts of northwestern Wisconsin will probably see some periods of light snow overnight Saturday night and on Sunday. There could also be a bit of freezing drizzle at times.
Central Minnesota, the Twin Cities metro area and west-central Wisconsin will have a chance of some light snow or a brief wintry mix of light snow/light rain/light freezing rain/sleet late Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon:

Temperature trends
Our average high temp is 24 degrees in the Twin Cities metro area this time of year. We’re looking at a Sunday afternoon high in the upper 30s in the metro area.
Sunday highs reach the 30s across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
The strong winds will create afternoon wind chill temps in the teens north and 20s south:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 30s Monday, followed by lower 20s Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday high rebound to the lower 30s, then we slide back to highs in the lower 20s on Friday.
It looks like an arctic blast could arrive around mid-January, with a couple of sub-zero nights and daytime highs in the single digits for a couple of days. We’ll see if that pans out. We’re running warmer than normal so far this month in the Twin Cities.
The January temperature outlook from the NWS Climate Prediction center shows equal chances of a warmer-than-normal or a colder-than-normal January:
Maybe mild temps early this month and a mid-January cold stretch will offset each other?
Stay tuned.
