A cold front sends temperatures tumbling Tuesday; light snow possible

Windy conditions also return

A cold front is trekking across Minnesota is causing temperatures to plummet. It also brings a few areas of light snow for Tuesday and windier conditions for the entire state.

Falling temperatures

The cold front has already sliced through northern Minnesota as of Tuesday morning, and will be all the way through the state by early afternoon.

Because of this, our high temperatures were already set early Tuesday morning. Most of northern Minnesota will see falling temperatures all day. Here is an example of that downward trend for Duluth on Tuesday (followed by rising temperatures into Thursday):

Southern Minnesota sees temperatures that may be a little more steady, then falling in the afternoon. These are the expected temperatures across the state by 4 p.m.:

Temperatures drop through Wednesday morning, by which point temperatures will range from the negative teens in northern Minnesota to southern Minnesota clinging to the low single digits.

Wind chills overnight could exceed minus 20 for northern parts of the state.

Tuesday snow and wind

Snow chances stay slim as the front passes through, with most places seeing only isolated flurries. Southern Minnesota could see a light dusting of snow this afternoon.
