Poliça’s new album, “When We Stay Alive,” comes out on Friday. It’s the band’s first since singer Channy Leaneagh fell last winter while trying to clear ice dams from the roof of her home in Minneapolis.
Leaneagh broke her back in that fall and was laid up for months – but she told Billboard magazine recently that the accident gave her time to write songs at a point when she’d been questioning her future in music. “I couldn’t work, clean, take care of my children or even leave the house, I just had to be inside all day with my own mind,” she said.
The band will soon kick off an international tour in support of the new album. They'll be back in Minneapolis in April for a show at First Avenue.
