It’s great when we can enjoy some weekend sunshine. The Twin Cities metro area had sunshine Saturday morning and most of Sunday.
Many spots in southern and central Minnesota and western Wisconsin had highs in the 40s Sunday, with mostly 30s in northern Minnesota.
Here’s a closer look at our Sunday warmth in the Twin Cities:
The official Twin Cities high temp (at MSP airport) was 46 degrees on Sunday, which was just 2 degrees shy of the Twin Cities record high for Feb 2.
46 degrees is 21 degrees warmer than our average Feb. 2 high temp in the Twin Cities.
46 degrees is the average Twin Cities high temp on March 25.
Sunday’s 46 degree high was the warmest temp at MSP airport since November 16, which was about two and a half months ago.
If the MSP airport temperature stays above 31 degrees until midnight Sunday night, it would set a new record for our warmest Feb. 2 low temp in the Twin Cities.

Temperature trends
As we head out the door Monday morning, temperatures are expected to be in the 20s across most of southern Minnesota, with mainly teens in the north.
Monday highs range from the teens in northwestern Minnesota to the lower 30s in far southeastern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin:

I’m thinking that our highest Twin Cities temp during the daylight hours of Monday will be around 30 degrees.
Twin Cities high temperatures are projected to be around 20 degrees on Tuesday, followed by lower 20s Wednesday, upper 20s Thursday and mid 20s on Friday.
Monday cloud cover
Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see a lot of cloud cover on Monday, but we could have a few peeks of sun at times. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the percentage of cloud cover as we go through Monday:

The best chance for some glimpses of sun appear to be Monday afternoon.
No storms in sight
Forecast models aren’t showing any big snowstorms in Minnesota or western Wisconsin this week. We may see some light snow showers Thursday and Friday.
