An evolving wintry weather system continues to be the lead weather story in Minnesota.

Ice and snow are already causing problems in western Minnesota. The Minnesota State Patrol found this jackknifed semi Thursday afternoon east of Fargo, N.D., on Interstate 94.

The Grand Forks, N.D., National Weather Service Office paints the transition zone from ice to snow. This zone works east across Minnesota overnight.

Heavy snow northwest

The Red River Valley and the northwest corner of Minnesota will pick up the heaviest snow with this system.

Ice accumulations

The most significant icing covers western and northern Minnesota. The Twin Cities likely gets a glaze coating Friday. Watch for icy roads, driveways and sidewalks.
