Early ice out
Most lakes in southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities are now ice-free. There are even a few ice-free lakes north of the Twin Cities now. You can check your favorite lake here.
Many southern Minnesota lakes are seeing ice cover vanish one to two weeks earlier than average this spring. Twin Cities bellwether lakes White Bear and Minnetonka went out Thursday, April 2. That’s nine days earlier than the long-term average

Milder air returns this weekend into next week. The weather pattern favors more ice-out reports from central Minnesota over the next week.
