Hennepin County prosecutors have charged serial rape suspect Jory Wiebrand, 34, in four more cases. The Ham Lake man is now accused in connection with nine attacks or attempted attacks in the Marcy Holmes neighborhood in southeast Minneapolis between 2015 and 2020.

The most recent charges filed in Hennepin County court allege that Wiebrand attempted to rape three women in separate incidents. He is accused of chasing another woman into a parking lot.

In that case, prosecutors say the woman had previously reported feeling like someone was following her. Then, in November 2019, she said a man began to follow her one night.

“She stated that he crossed the street and was quickly gaining on her,” reads the complaint. “Victim became frightened and started to run away. She dropped her backpack and several of her items fell out. She gathered up what she could, made it to her car, and sped away.”

Prosecutors say several weeks later, Wiebrand allegedly assaulted another woman in the same parking lot.

According to the charges, police were able to use Wiebrand’s DNA to link him to several crime scenes. Police arrested Wiebrand last month. He's being held in jail.
