Mostly 70s; decent Memorial Day weekend ahead

Dry and mild two of three days this holiday weekend?

There are a few high pressure forecasts for weather forecasters in Minnesota: The Fourth of July. Labor Day weekend and Memorial Day weekend.

Of the three big summer holidays, the Memorial Day weekend is typically the wettest. It also brings the highest chance for severe weather warnings.

The average number of severe weather warnings issued by the Twin Cities National Weather Service forecast office rises quickly through Memorial Day weekend. It peaks in late June, before falling off later in summer.

Mostly 70s this week; shower chances Saturday

The forecast models are in flux about the timing of showers Saturday. The European model suggest showers statewide Saturday. The American models bring that system in later, mostly on Saturday night. That’s a significant difference when you’re talking about the first big summer holiday weekend with people wanting to get out on the lake.

If the system holds off, Saturday could be a warm summery day in Minnesota.
