Last week’s forecast models looked like Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown at the last second. Now they’re advertising 90-degree heat again across the Upper Midwest by next weekend.

Buyer beware. This forecast comes with a warning label.

Upper winds

We enjoy a cool but sunny weekend this weekend. By next weekend, the upper air forecast maps once again suggest a heat dome building across the central United States.

If, again if that pattern finally comes to fruition next weekend, it would bring the season’s first 90-degree heat into parts of Minnesota. The Canadian model cranks up the heat next weekend.

Barbaric humidity levels?

With June arriving Monday, it’s just a matter of time before extreme heat and humidity ooze north into Minnesota. This may be overdone, but NOAA’s GFS is cranking out dew points well into the 70s for next weekend.

Dew points even approaching this level of tropical moisture are unbearable for most of us. Especially with temperatures around 90 degrees.

Stay tuned as we see how much the forecast models chance over the next few days. And maybe get that AC unit checked out. Lucy might not be around next weekend to pull the football away at the last second.
