Pope Francis on Friday appointed a new bishop for the Diocese of Duluth.
Bishop-elect Michel Mulloy currently serves as administrator of the Rapid City diocese in South Dakota.
Mulloy was born in Mobridge, S.D., in 1953 and was ordained as a priest in the Diocese of Sioux Falls in 1979.
He's served in a variety of roles in the Rapid City diocese for more than 30 years. His episcopal ordination and installation in Duluth is set for Oct. 1.
Mulloy succeeds the late Bishop Paul Sirba, who died in December.
