Travel turns tricky by Tuesday morning as a storm moves a mix of rain, snow and ice into Minnesota overnight. The remainder of the week stays much quieter.
Monday’s forecast
Apart from a few more clouds near the Arrowhead and a couple areas of light snow there, weather across Minnesota is quiet as of Monday morning. Morning temperatures ranged from teens and single digits north to low 20s south under predominantly clear skies.
Other than lingering clouds northeast, the state stays mostly sunny through the day and highs range from the upper 20s north to lower 40s south, which is near average.
By the afternoon, winds turn breezier in western Minnesota and more clouds begin to move in west to east.

Messy weather Tuesday
Already late Monday night, a mix of precipitation starts moving into western Minnesota, then spreads overnight, impacting most of the state by Tuesday morning.
While almost any location could see a mix of rain, ice and snow, northern and central Minnesota are most likely to see light freezing rain or drizzle that could produce slick roads. Meanwhile, eastern Minnesota is where much of the accumulating snow will fall, although it remains light, with most places seeing under 2 inches.
For the Twin Cities, precipitation starts as snow Tuesday morning, then switches over to rain mid to late morning, so the morning commute is likely to be slower than normal.
Precipitation clears out west to east form late Tuesday afternoon into the overnight, with only southeastern Minnesota seeing precipitation possibly linger into Wednesday morning.
Extended forecast
Mostly cloudy skies persist much of Wednesday, but clouds finally clear by Thursday. Sunshine then prevails through the end of the week.
Temperatures also turn milder the second half of the week, with 30s and 40s Thursday though Saturday putting the state 5 to 10 degrees above average.
Here is that forecast for the Twin Cities:
Specifically for Thanksgiving, highs are expected to range from the mid-30s north to the mid-40s south, under dry skies.
