Blizzard warnings in Northwest Minnesota, winter weather advisories across the state

Wednesday’s fierce winds and snow are gone, so it’s time for a recap.

The highest snow totals Wednesday and Wednesday night were in the western and far northern portions of the Twin Cities metro area plus parts of northeastern Minnesota:

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport had a storm total of 8.8 inches. The highest total that I’ve seen so far in Minnesota is 13 inches in Holyoke, which is located in Carlton County of northeastern Minnesota.

Cold weather made it a challenge to clear roads overnight and today, You can check Minnesota road conditions 

Additional snow accumulations aren’t expected in Minnesota on Christmas Day. There could be a few flurries late in the day in far northern Minnesota.

Christmas morning lows will be below zero, with teens below zero possible in parts of far northern Minnesota:

Christmas Day highs will range from the teens northeast to the lower 30s in far southwestern Minnesota:

Parts of the Twin Cities metro area could touch 20 degrees Friday afternoon. Our average Twin Cities high temp is 25 degrees on Christmas Day.

Sustained winds will be in the 7 to 12 mph range on Christmas Day, with gusts in the teens by afternoon:
