The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Strom Prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. for much of southern Minnesota. Get up to the minute storm and warning updates on the MPR Weather live blog.
The watch zone lies basically south of a Mankato-Red Wind-Eau Claire line.
The watch zone does not include the Twin Cities but does include Albert Lea, Rochester, Waseca, Owatonna, Northfield, Winona, and Eau Claire.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Northern Iowa Southern Minnesota Far Northeast Nebraska Far Southeast South Dakota Central and Southern Wisconsin
* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 200 PM until 1000 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...Clusters of storms will develop generally eastward within multiple corridors across the region near a boundary through early/mid-evening. Damaging winds and some severe hail are expected to the primary hazards. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles north and south of a line from 65 miles west southwest of Worthington MN to 25 miles southeast of Green Bay WI.
Scattered storms are also possible in the Twin Cities, but the highest severe risk lies across southern Minnesota.
