Hit or miss.

Our weather forecast will be a little bit of both through Friday into part of Saturday. Occasional, scattered rain and thunder will pop up around a weak low-pressure system through Friday and into Saturday. I expect more dry hours than rain at any one spot in Minnesota, but most of us will get wet at some point.

Tracking rain zones

NOAA’s GFS model is typical of models that drag a slow-moving low-pressure system through Minnesota through Saturday. Scattered rain will move generally northeast through Friday. Showers will likely be less numerous Saturday as the system pulls eastward into Wisconsin.

Much of Minnesota looks likely to pick up between 0.25 and 0.75 inches by Saturday. But there could be a swath of locally heavier rainfall through central Minnesota, with 1 inch or more in some locations. Here’s another look at the European model output:

Clouds and a few spotty showers linger Saturday. Sunday brings the sunnier day this weekend. Highs should be in the 60s to 70s around Minnesota.
