We’re off and running on a mild start to October.
A plume of unseasonably warm air is streaming north all the way into Canada. Temperatures Tuesday afternoon show 70s and 80s all the way north into Canada. A few locations in the Dakotas have hit 90 degrees once again.
Wednesday delivers another warm October afternoon with temperatures running 10 to 15 degrees warmer than average in our region. Highs reach the 70s again across much of Minnesota with 80s in the Dakotas.
Rain chances increase late this week
Thursday brings more clouds to Minnesota with slightly cooler temperatures and spotty shower chances.

A low-pressure system spinning into the Upper Midwest this weekend brings increased rain chances. Here’s an early look at the Canadian model output for Saturday and Sunday.
Overall rainfall totals look highest in the northern half of Minnesota and North Dakota. Here’s the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s GFS model rainfall output.
It should be noted that the European model is the outlier, and currently shoves heavier rainfall south toward the Twin Cities this weekend.
