It’s not often Minnesotans are warned of a risk for tornadoes in December, but that’s a possibility in Wednesday’s weather outlook.

According to retired University of Minnesota climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley, Minnesota has never recorded a tornado in December, January or February.

Seeley joined MPR News host Cathy Wurzer for a bonus chat on Wednesday to discuss the state’s risk for severe weather.
