We’re below zero for most areas again early Friday but considerably warmer than Thursday morning. The combination of warmer air attempting to move in and a clipper system is creating light snow. Most of us can expect a coating with bad timing during the morning commute. Light snow showers should wrap up in the metro by 10-11 a.m.
It will be warmer Friday afternoon but not dramatically so just yet.
A little cold air slips in behind the clipper, so it will be just below zero again Friday night but things really warm up Saturday. Most of southern Minnesota will reach the 30s while northern Minnesota will see highs in the 20s.
Northern Minnesota gets another round of more significant snow Saturday. A winter weather advisory is in effect Saturday for those areas.
Yet another weak cool front slides in for Sunday. Highs will be in the teens and low 20s.
A sustained warm up and February thaw develops next week. We’ll see several days above freezing and even a chance at 40.
