Here comes our next blizzard for open areas in western Minnesota.
A clipper will blow across northern Minnesota Friday. The system will produce snow up north, and severe wind gusts that could reach 60 mph in open areas. Blizzard warnings are up for the Red River Valley.

...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM CST FRIDAY...
* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Minnesota and northeast and southeast North Dakota.
* WHEN...From 6 AM to 6 PM CST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. The cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
NOAA’s GFS model paints the snow zone across northern Minnesota Friday.
Snowfall totals across northern Minnesota will be highest along the North Shore ridges. Widespread totals of 1 to 4 inches will fall, with up to 6 inches locally on higher terrain along the North Shore.
The Twin Cities will start Friday mild with highs in the 30s around midday. Temperatures will fall on gusty northwest winds Friday afternoon and evening.
Saturday looks classic with highs in the teens east to 30s west.
Sunday brings another thaw to southern Minnesota with more 40s on the map.
