It’s a seasonably cool start early Monday morning with temperatures in the teens in the south and single digits north with clearing skies statewide.

Look for high temperatures Monday afternoon in the upper 20s to near 30 in the south and lower 20s farther north. The normal high in the Twin Cities for Monday is 37. We’ll be closer to that Tuesday.

Overnight Monday night temperatures will drop back into the teens south and single digits north.

Tuesday will be our warmest day of the week, so make some time to get out and enjoy it. It’ll also be a “thawing opportunity” before we get pretty chilly. Look for highs in the upper 30s to near 40 in the south and near 30 in the north.

We’ll see snow showers Tuesday ahead of a cold front drop a coating to one inch of snowfall in northern Minnesota. Farther south we’ll see just some scattered light snow showers by the afternoon and evening.

The chilly air will likely push a larger system to the south of most of Minnesota on Thursday. It’s still possible the southernmost counties of Minnesota could see accumulating snowfall. Otherwise, from Wednesday through Saturday we’ll see temperatures 15 to 20 degrees colder than normal. The 6 to 10-day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center reflects the chilly pattern ahead.
