The heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has caused rivers to rise rapidly in some areas. A flood warning is posted for the Redwood River near Redwood Falls.

Well-placed precipitation

This week’s soaking rainfall and heavy wet snow are well-placed across Minnesota. Most of the heavy precipitation fell in abnormally dry or drought areas.

This will likely wipe out many of the abnormally dry zones in Minnesota on next week’s U.S. Drought Monitor update. Most of the precipitation fell after the Tuesday morning cutoff for this week’s update.
