The first weekend of April in Minnesota may not feel like deep spring just yet. But it’s an improvement over what we’ve endured during a cold, cloudy, wet and windy March.
Friday began with welcome bright sunshine across most of Minnesota. A minor weather disturbance zips eastward across southern Minnesota Friday afternoon and evening. NOAA’s NAM 3 km resolution model shows the progression of spotty light rain and a few snow showers between 1 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday.
Look for a mix of sunny and cloudy periods this weekend. High temperatures will hover around 50 degrees in the Twin Cities this weekend, with highs in the 40s across most of central and northern Minnesota.

Next week looks seasonable. Highs again will hover in the low 50s south, with 40s generally north of the greater Twin Cities area.
I’m still watching for a bigger pattern change that could bring significantly warmer air into Minnesota. Right now it looks like a slower warm-up in the first half of April. A couple of forecast models suggest 60s again around April 12.
Hang in there.
