Thunderstorm chances rise, then a cool break
With the increase in moisture, the atmosphere becomes less settled on Thursday. Isolated thunderstorms are already around parts of Minnesota. Activity will be spotty into Thursday night and Friday.
The better chance of widespread scattered storms will be late Friday into Saturday as a cold front sweeps across Minnesota from northwest to southeast. The better chance of significant rainfall remains in northern and western Minnesota through early Saturday.
The storms that do develop Thursday and Thursday night warrant a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) of severe storms. There’s an increased risk of severe storms Friday night with a slight risk (level 2 out of 5).
Behind the front, temperatures and dew points will drop late Saturday. Sunday looks delightful with sunshine, lower humidity and highs mainly in the 70s statewide. Northeastern Minnesota may only see highs in the 60s.
Beyond that we’re in for a few days of more comfortable temperatures before things heat up again late next week.
