A 1-day hot front blows into much of Minnesota Tuesday. The most intense heat zone will run along and west of I-94 from the Twin Cities to the Fargo area.
The hot zone is part of a much larger heat dome that’s been roasting the central and southern Plains. Highs Tuesday will push past 100 degrees from Oklahoma all the way north into South Dakota and Iowa.
NOAA’s NAM model is one of several that pushes the 100-degree heat zone to just west of the greater Twin Cites by late Tuesday afternoon. The record high for the Twin Cities Tuesday is 99 degrees set in 1988.
