Light winds late Saturday night allowed areas of dense fog to develop in parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The fog lingered into Sunday morning in many areas, but it has been burning off nicely.
We’ll have plenty of sunshine across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday afternoon. Clouds and some fog could linger into early afternoon in parts of far southeastern Minnesota.
Next rain chance?
Parts of north-central and northeastern Minnesota could see scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm Monday afternoon and evening.

More of Minnesota plus western Wisconsin will have a chance of showers on Wednesday, with a thunderstorm also possible. NOAA’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from 4 a.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Wednesday:
Pay more attention to the patchy nature of the Wednesday rain than the exact timing and location of the rain. Computer models will give us more details on Wednesday rain chances by Tuesday.

Temperature trends
Sunday high temps will be in the upper 70s to around 80 in much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It’ll be a bit cooler near Lake Superior. A few spots in far northwestern Minnesota could reach the lower 80s.
Monday highs will be in the lower 80s in many locations:
Some spots that are close to Lake Superior could top out in the upper 70s.
Monday afternoon dew points will be in the comfortable 50s in much of northern Minnesota, and slightly higher in the south:
Back to forecast high temperatures, Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 80s on Tuesday, followed by lower 80s Wednesday, upper 70s Thursday and around 80 on Friday.
Near-normal highs are expected next Saturday, then we could see above-normal temps next Sunday into the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temps in Minnesota and Wisconsin from August 28 through September 3:
Weather nugget
The official Twin Cities high temperature, which is measured at MSP airport, hasn’t reached 90 degrees or warmer since August 5. So far this year, there have been 17 days with highs of 90 or warmer at MSP airport. Our long-term average is 13 days per year of 90 or warmer in the Twin Cities.
