Severe weather possible Sunday evening; severe thunderstorm watch for northern Minn. until 11 p.m.

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. Sunday for much of the northern half of Minnesota:

URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 525 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 440 PM CDT Sun Aug 28 2022 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Northern Minnesota * Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 440 PM until 1100 PM CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible A tornado or two possible SUMMARY...Initial thunderstorm cluster across northwest Minnesota should spread east this evening, while additional semi-discrete supercells may develop south of it and merge into a broadening cluster towards northeast Minnesota towards late evening. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80 statute miles east and west of a line from 25 miles south southwest of Brainerd MN to 90 miles north northwest of Hibbing MN. The Storm Prediction Center also shows a slight risk of severe weather Sunday evening elsewhere in Minnesota — including the Twin Cities metro area — plus western Wisconsin. Slight risk means that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible.
