It’s hard to believe Wednesday is the last day of meteorological summer. But even though the calendar says September on Thursday, the weather maps suggest summer will linger into September this year.
Wednesday brings another day of bright sun. Highs will push into the 80s across most of western and southern Minnesota.
Thursday looks even warmer. A stiff south wind between 15 and 30 mph will blow in higher temperatures and humidity for the first day of September. Highs will push 90 in western Minnesota.
A few showers may arrive late Friday with a weak cool front. Forecast models suggest 70s to lower 80s Saturday into Sunday. A few models are cranking up the heat again next week with highs approaching 90 once again.
NOAA’s outlooks favor warmer than average temperatures for the start of September.
We may not be done with 90 degrees just yet this year.
