Our three-day Labor Day weekend looks quiet and rain-free across most of Minnesota plus western Wisconsin. People who start their weekend early could see a passing shower or isolated thunderstorm on Friday.
A nearby high-pressure system will deliver plenty of sunshine on Saturday and Sunday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model isn’t showing any rain in Minnesota or western Wisconsin from 4 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday:
Labor Day also looks rain-free in most areas.

Temperatures and dew points
Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 77 degrees on Sept. 3. Saturday highs will be in the low to mid 70s in the metro area. There’ll be a lot of 70s in central and southern Minnesota on Saturday, with 60s in far northern Minnesota and parts of northwestern Wisconsin:
Saturday afternoon dew points will be in the comfortable 40s and lower 50s:
Sunday highs will be mainly in the 70s, with 60s in northeastern Minnesota:
Sunday afternoon dew points will be mainly in the 40s in northern Minnesota, with 50s to the south:
Labor Day highs range from mid-80s in southwestern Minnesota to 70s in the northeast:
Some spots in the metro area could reach the lower 80s on Labor Day.
Monday afternoon dew points creep up into the sticky 60s in the metro area and southeastern Minnesota, with 50s elsewhere:
Weather nugget
The average Twin Cities temperature for August (the average of all the daily high temps and low temps) was seven-tenths of a degree above normal:
August was our fourth consecutive warmer-than-normal month in the Twin Cities. The official August rainfall total at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was very slightly (seven-hundredths of an inch) below normal.
