Gusty south winds bring warmth, moisture Thursday with showers north and west

It’ll be warm and windy Thursday in southern Minnesota and showery in the north. Friday will bring a more widespread chance of rain statewide. The weekend brings another possibility of rain, mainly on Saturday night.
Another warm day Thursday with rain north
We’ll have scattered showers and a few thunderstorms in northern Minnesota and west-central Minnesota on Thursday with more developing in the west during the evening hours.
Rainfall totals will be highest in northern and northeastern Minnesota, where Lake and Cook counties are under a flood watch from 7 p.m. Thursday through 10 p.m. Friday due to the potential for heavy rain on top of already saturated ground.

South winds will pump in warmth and moisture. Highs will be in the 80s south and near 70 in the far northern parts of Minnesota.
Winds will be gusty from the south at 10-25 mph across much of central and southern Minnesota.
Showers Friday statewide; more possible over the weekend
Friday is when the Twin Cities and southeastern Minnesota will see the possibility of some scattered showers and thunder.
It will continue to be warm over the weekend with highs in 70s and 80s. Dew points will increase to sticky levels by late Friday into Saturday and Sunday. That means dew points in the 60s returning.
That second surge of moisture will help create another shot of scattered showers and thunder, falling mainly overnight Saturday into Sunday with some lingering showers early Sunday.
Big cool down coming?
Monday and Tuesday will yield summerlike high temperature readings well into the 80s (some models still throw out 90 on the high end).
It appears a blast of fall air moves in by mid to late week. Highs will likely be in the 60s Thursday and Friday and overnight lows should finally drop below 50 in the Twin Cities officially.
