Tuesday will be our last hot and muggy day of summer. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s with sticky dew points. Temperatures drop nearly 20 degrees for highs Wednesday.
Last hot, muggy day of summer 2022
Yes, there are only two full days of summer 2022 remaining: Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday looks to be the very last hot and muggy one. Highs will be well into the mid to upper 80s if not near 90 for some in southern Minnesota. We’ll also have some pretty muggy air for today only.
If you are thoroughly over the heat and humidity, you won’t have to wait long. A potent cool front brings the coolest air mass of the season Tuesday night and it’s sticking around. The cool front could touch off some spotty thunder Tuesday evening into Tuesday night. This particular model (below), the North American Model (NAM) is more widespread with thunderstorms than some others.
Highs Wednesday will be about 20 degrees cooler for most of the state with just 50s even in northern Minnesota.
We’ll stay below normal the rest of the work week with highs mainly in the 60s south, 50s north. Saturday will bring a slight bump up, into perhaps the low 70s for southern Minnesota with the next chance of showers developing late Friday.
