Hot, humid Tuesday with storms possible later
The record high temperature for the Twin Cities Tuesday is 91 degrees set back in 1931. We’ll be rather close to it.
The odds of hitting 90 this late in the season are at about 2 percent, so it does happen, but infrequently. Four weeks ago, the odds of hitting 90 were 5.5 times greater than now.
Tuesday’s high temperatures definitely have the fingerprints of climate change. Climate Central’s climate shift index is at a 3 (out of 5) for much of southern Minnesota Tuesday.

Northwestern Minnesota will already experience cooler temperatures this afternoon as a front slides south and southeast. That front will touch off a few thunderstorms across east-central Minnesota into western Wisconsin.

Some storms could be strong to severe. A marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) of severe weather is forecast for the Twin Cities with a slight risk (level 2 out of 5) for western Wisconsin.

Big drop in temperatures Wednesday
Temperatures will be much cooler Wednesday through Friday. Highs will be mainly in the 60s south and just 50s north.
