It’ll be a windy and warm Tuesday with highs in the 70s to low 80s. Evening thunderstorms are possible with a big drop in temperatures over the next couple of days.
Very warm, windy Tuesday with evening storms
Temperatures will be nearly 20 degrees warmer than normal Tuesday afternoon with low 80s for many spots in southern Minnesota and highs near 70 all the way up to the international border.
We will have lots of wind from the south pushing in that warmth. South winds will blow at 10-25 mph with higher gusts.
Storms will develop ahead of a potent cold front this evening and move east into the overnight.
Some of those storms could be strong to severe with the primary threats being large hail or isolated damaging wind gusts.
Temperatures drop and stay cool
Temperatures will dip behind the cold front and it will stay cool for several days this time rather than just a couple chilly days.
A large, upper-level low of cold air aloft will spin right between Hudson Bay and Minnesota keeping us chilly into at least early or the middle of next week.
