A snowy coating up north by Friday?

Some light snow looks likely across northern Minnesota Friday.

It had to happen eventually.

Forecast models Wednesday suggest a coating of snow is possible across much of northern Minnesota by Friday. Temperatures in the 20s and 30s Friday morning will supply the cold air for possible snow.

And a weak low-pressure system in northern Minnesota Friday morning looks likely to produce several hours of snow showers.

Forecast models are cranking out a broad area of one to three inches of potential snowfall accumulation across northern Minnesota by late Friday.

Since the ground is still relatively warm, some of the snow will melt as it falls to earth.

Snow is not uncommon in northern Minnesota in October. Still, it’s a sign that our seasons are changing.

Forecast models are hinting at milder air again late next week.
