Warmer weekend, mild Halloween; 70s possible next week

We’re still waiting for the other, wintry weather shoe to drop in most of Minnesota. The 2022 warm season keeps on dealing us a series of warm fronts.

The next mild air mass is not as warm as the one that brought 78 degrees to the Twin Cities last weekend, but forecast models are cranking out temperatures well into the 60s once again, with another shot at 70 degrees possible across southern Minnesota in the first week of November.

Unfortunately, there is still little rain in the forecast.

The warming trend begins this weekend. Highs will push back into the 60s across much of southern Minnesota by Saturday.

For Halloween, highs in the 50s are likely in most of Minnesota with temperatures around 60 degrees in the south. Trick or treat temps will be mostly in the 50s across Minnesota.

It looks like the peak warmth with the next surge of milder air will arrive next Tuesday and Wednesday. In November. Conservative estimates push highs well into the 60s next Tuesday.

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model is even warmer, cranking out highs in the upper 60s for southern Minnesota next Tuesday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model did pretty well gauging the higher temperatures last weekend. And the GFS is cranking up temperatures into the 70s from around the Twin Cities southward next Wednesday.

So it looks like the last few days of October will bring temperatures at least 10 to 15 degrees warmer than average. The average high and low in the Twin Cities this upcoming weekend are 51 and 36 degrees. We could be 20 degrees above average on the first days of November.

We know at some point this prolonged warm season ends with a shot of snow and much colder temperatures. But we’re still waiting for persistently colder air to take hold in Minnesota
