Another very warm day Wednesday with highs in the 70s and 60s north. We’ll have sunshine filtered through high clouds with blustery south winds at 15-25 mph. Thursday will again be warm with rain showers possible Thursday night and a more significant weekend system.
Record breaking warmth by day and night
Blustery south winds will push temperatures even higher Wednesday. Winds will become 15-25 mph.
High temperatures will be record-breaking. In the Twin Cities, the record high of 72 was set in 1978. We should surpass that Wednesday afternoon with highs in the mid-70s. Expect a very mild overnight, in the 50s, which is above normal high temperatures even is forecast for Wednesday night.
That too, could be a record. The current record for Nov. 3 low temperatures in the Twin Cities sits at 55 set in 1956. It will set us up for another day near 70 Thursday afternoon.
Significant moisture surges north Thursday night into weekend
A cool front will touch off the first round of rain showers Thursday night. There will then be another surge northward of moisture late Friday into Saturday night.
The models are painting the heaviest rainfall southeast of where we need it most in the severe and extreme drought regions of south-central Minnesota. The Twin Cities may end up west of the more significant rainfall totals.
It will also be cooler this weekend into early next week, in the 40s and 50s, but still slightly above normal.
