It finally feels like November. Let’s look at how the weekend is shaping up.
Weekend temps and wind gusts
Our average Nov. 5 high temperature is 47 degrees in the Twin Cities. We’re looking at Saturday highs in the mid to upper 40s in the metro area. Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have Saturday afternoon highs in the 40s:
A few spots in southwestern Minnesota could top 50 degrees, and upper 30s are expected in northeastern Minnesota.
Saturday afternoon wind gusts will be in the 16 mph to 24 mph range in roughly the southeastern half of Minnesota and in western Wisconsin:

Sunday highs will be in the 40s in roughly the northern half of Minnesota, with 50s elsewhere:
Sunday will be windy, with afternoon gusts over 30 mph in central, southern and northeastern Minnesota and over 40 mph at times in northwestern Minnesota:
Rain, snow chances
Computer models have shifted the track of Saturday’s low-pressure system eastward. Southeastern and northeastern Minnesota plus Wisconsin will see the most precipitation. I say precipitation because some areas will see rain and some will see a rain-snow mix.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 4 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday:
The eastern part of the Twin Cities metro area would see some showers Saturday morning in the NAM model depiction, then a few more showers late Saturday night and early Sunday. Northeastern Minnesota may see a mix that changes to snow.
NOAA’s High-Resolution Rapid Refresh model shows shower chances in more of the metro area Saturday morning and early afternoon, then another shower chance Saturday night:
Northeastern Minnesota could see a rain-snow mix and then snow.
The Duluth National Weather Service office has this depiction of the weekend precipitation and the snow potential in northeastern Minnesota and far northwestern Wisconsin:
