Wednesday will be mild with sunshine. High temperatures will be above freezing statewide. Clouds increase Wednesday night with fog possible into Thursday morning and even some patchy freezing drizzle.
Thanksgiving will be mild again, into the 30s but somewhat cooler with cloudy skies.
Mild Wednesday; patchy precipitation Thursday
We have another mild day Wednesday with afternoon high temperatures above freezing statewide ranging from the upper 30s north to the mid to upper 40s southwest. We’ll have sunshine most of the day as well.
Clouds increase overnight Wednesday night into Thursday along with fog late Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

In that thick cloud layer and fog we could have some patchy drizzle, a few light snow and rain showers and even freezing drizzle.
The main areas of possible patchy light freezing drizzle will be north of the dashed line where early morning temperatures Thursday will be below freezing.
Afternoon highs Thursday will be back into the 30s but a little cooler with the clouds around.
Thanksgiving temperatures will be near normal this year but overall the trend is that the holiday is becoming warmer as all seasons of the year are. We can have quite the range of conditions this time of year.
The coldest temperature in the state was minus 34 in Argyle in 1985. International Falls was minus 32 that year also. About 1 in 3 years average one inch or more of snow cover in the Twin Cities. This year we’ll fall below that threshold after more melting Wednesday.
More active next week and cooler
After a relatively quiet and mild week this week, conditions become more active again potentially next week. The climate prediction center is forecasting above normal precipitation once again.
A storm system is brewing for Tuesday into Wednesday (Nov. 29-30) that could bring significant potential for rain and snow to Minnesota.
Normal or below-normal temperatures are also forecast to return next week in the region.
