Monday flake chance
Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin won’t see any measurable snow this Sunday, but a few passing flurries are possible at times.
Some periods of light snow are possible as we go through Monday and Monday evening. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 4 a.m. Monday to 10 p.m. Monday:
The best chance of occasional light snow showers in the Twin Cities will be Monday afternoon and Monday evening.
Temperature trends
Much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have Sunday highs in the lower 20s. There will be some teens in northwestern Minnesota and west-central Minnesota.
Monday highs reach the lower 30s in many locations, including the Twin Cities:
Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 23 degrees this time of year.
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the upper 20s on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by lower 20s Thursday and Friday. Twin Cities highs are expected to be below normal next weekend.
Below normal temps may linger from next weekend into the following week, according to the latest temperature outlook from the NWS Climate Prediction Center:
Weather nugget
If we see average snowfall in the Twin Cities the rest of this snow season we’ll receive about 25 additional inches of snow. That would put our Twin Cities 2022-2023 snow season total over 77 inches, which hasn’t happened since the 2018-2019 snow season….four years ago.
