Areas of fog Sunday night/early Monday; Mild temps Monday, with snow showers possible

It’s a bit murky out there.

Fog will linger across much of Minnesota plus western Wisconsin Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night into early Monday. Some areas will see dense fog.

A dense fog advisory continues Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night from portions of west-central Minnesota southeastward into south-central Minnesota:

The NWS could add additional counties to the dense fog advisory as we go through Sunday night.

Monday flake chance

Parts of northwestern Minnesota will see some light snow late Sunday night, then the chance of snow will expand across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin during the daylight hours of Monday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 5 a.m. Monday to 10 p.m. Monday:

The Twin Cities metro area could see a few light snow showers Monday afternoon. Some periods of snow are also possible in the metro area on Wednesday and Thursday night into Friday.

Monday highs are expected to reach the lower 30s in many locations, including the Twin Cities:

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the upper 20s on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by lower 20s Thursday and upper 20s on Friday. Twin Cities metro area highs will retreat to the teens next weekend.

Much of the upper Midwest could see below-normal temps during the last couple days of January and into the beginning of February, according to the NWS Climate Prediction Center:
