Dense fog advisory until noon Sunday in western, southern Minn. and south metro

Pesky clouds again today

Light winds allowed fog to develop Saturday night and linger into Sunday morning. Some areas have seen dense fog and freezing fog.

A dense fog advisory continues until noon today for much of western, central and southern Minnesota and the south/southwestern portion of the Twin Cities metro area:

Pesky clouds

Some breaks in the cloud cover could develop in western Minnesota Sunday afternoon. Prospects for breaks in the cloud cover are lower to the east. There could be some thinning of the cloud cover in parts of eastern Minnesota Sunday afternoon.

Snow stays southeast

A low pressure system will continue to bring snow to parts of eastern Iowa, far southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois today, but measurable snow is not expected in Minnesota or western Wisconsin. A stray flurry is possible is possible in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday:

Highs today

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 23 degrees this time of year. Metro area highs will be close to that mark this Sunday afternoon, and highs in the 20s are expected across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
