The Twin Cities Sunday morning low temperature (measured at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport) was 7 degrees. The average Twin Cities low temp is 26 degrees this time of year. The average Twin Cities low temp is 8 degrees in mid-January.
Temperatures will recover nicely Sunday afternoon, with highs in the 30s expected across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Some spots in far northwestern Minnesota could see highs in the upper 20s.
Southwesterly winds will gust over 30 mph at times Sunday afternoon. Parts of southwestern Minnesota could see a few gusts over 40 mph, and blowing snow will be possible in open areas.

Temperature trends
The average Twin Cities high temperature is 43 degrees this time of year. Metro area highs are expected to reach the upper 30s today and Monday.
Monday highs will be in the 20s across much of northern and far western Minnesota, with mainly 30s elsewhere:
Southeastern Minnesota will see some 40s.
Tuesday highs will reach the 40s from the Twin Cities metro area into southeastern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin, with mainly 30s elsewhere:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 40s on Wednesday, followed by upper 30s Thursday and then around 40 on Friday.
Next rain/snow chance
Computer models show an area of precipitation spreading into Minnesota and Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon and then lingering Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
It may be rain or a rain/snow mix in southern Minnesota, the Twin Cities metro area and west-central Wisconsin, with mainly snow over central and northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Wednesday:
Parts of central and northern Minnesota could see a few inches of snow from this system, with lighter amounts in the metro area and points to the south.

The official 2022-2023 Twin Cities snow season total (measured at MSP airport) is 81.2 inches.
That puts the current snow season in the eighth-snowiest position in Twin Cities weather records:
