Scattered showers ahead

The timing could be better. A low-pressure system will drift toward Minnesota this weekend. It will produce scattered, occasional showers and a possible thunderstorm Friday and Saturday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale model shows scattered rains with this system. The loop below runs between 1 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday.

Many forecast models suggest between one-quarter to one-half inch of precipitation Friday and Saturday. Up to an inch is possible in western Minnesota.

Highs will be a little cooler with more clouds Friday and Saturday.
