Very warm Wednesday with more showers, thunder ahead

Lingering scattered showers and thunder in northern Minnesota will fizzle out by midday. Isolated thunder is possible late Wednesday with a better chance of spotty showers, thunder overnight into early Thursday.

More rain for some over the past 24 hours

We received more rain across central and northern Minnesota late Tuesday into Tuesday night with showers still moving across northern Minnesota. The heaviest rainfall totals were near the Alexandria to Brainerd areas.

Those totals will rise once the showers finally wrap up midday Wednesday. The multiday totals are showing most areas getting at least some rain since Saturday night. The Twin Cities and also far western Minnesota stick out as areas that have seen little measurable rainfall.

Warmer Wednesday; showers, thunder ahead

Scattered showers and some thunder will continue through the morning for northern Minnesota but should wrap up midday. Isolated thunder is possible late in the day with heating in southern Minnesota but most areas should remain dry.

Temperatures will be near 80 in southern Minnesota with more sunshine than northern Minnesota. Clouds should break up Wednesday afternoon in northern Minnesota as well.

Some spotty or even scattered showers and thunder will be possible overnight Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

Forecast rainfall amounts through the weekend are more substantial, however, for much of Minnesota with the potential of widespread amounts of 1 inch or more.
