Tuesday will bring us seasonable temperatures all across Minnesota. Highs will be mainly from the mid-70s to low 80s, but cooler near Lake Superior. The Twin Cities should warm to about 83 with another day of low humidity. Wind will be light from the southwest.
The one wrinkle for Tuesday is the return of wildfire smoke. Smoke from Canadian wildfires is spreading into Minnesota from the northwest. An air quality alert for fine particles has been issued for a large part of northwestern Minnesota until 10 p.m. on Tuesday. Ground level smoke is likely to be in the unhealthy category at times in parts of that area.
Strong storms possible Wednesday
Wednesday will be a warmer, rather muggy day for central to southern Minnesota where many afternoon temperatures will climb well into the 80s.
An approaching weather system from the west will bring rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms to Minnesota Tuesday night and Wednesday. There is a marginal (level 1 of 5) risk of severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Dry, cooler Thursday
Thursday will be rain-free, breezy and cooler behind the passing cold front.
Then we heat up
Temperatures will warm through the weekend.
The Twin Cities could see highs into the low 90s by early next week.
