Conditions will be heating up again this week with highs again near 90 for much of southern Minnesota. We’ll also have some spotty rain chances but no widespread soaking is likely.
An air quality alert has been posted across northern Minnesota due to Canadian wildfire smoke. It runs from 12 p.m. Monday until Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Temperatures trend back upward
After a beautiful and comfortable weekend, the heat is returning. Highs Monday will be back above normal in the mid to upper 80s across southern Minnesota with highs near 80 in northeastern Minnesota.
Temperatures will continue to trend higher with much of western Minnesota and the southern half of Minnesota back around 90 degrees, especially Wednesday and Thursday.
You’ll also notice the return of muggier air as dew points climb back into the 60s midweek.
Spotty rain and thunderstorm chances
There will be some spotty showers and thunder possible in northern Minnesota late Tuesday and Wednesday but anything farther south will be pretty isolated.
Forecast rainfall totals through early Saturday look pretty sad, generally under one-half inch and mainly north and west.
Some models are producing rainfall Saturday but confidence is low in this scenario, so far. It may be something to monitor through the week.
