But our inbound cold front will drop temperatures about 20 degrees across much of Minnesota by Wednesday.
Severe risk west
The cold front drives scattered rain and thunderstorms through Tuesday night. NOAA’s HRRR model tracks the line of rain and embedded thunderstorms between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Rain chances favor western Minnesota through early evening, with rain most likely in the Twin Cities after about 10 p.m. into the wee small hours of Wednesday.
A slight risk for severe storms with possible hail and high winds covers southwest MInnesota. A marginal (low) risk for storms covers most of western Minnesota west of the Twin Cities and Duluth.
Overall rainfall totals look lighter in eastern Minnesota with less than .50” likely in the Twin Cities. The best chance for an inch of rain locally favors western and central Minnesota.
