Tuesday will still be summerlike with late day and overnight storms possible. Wednesday will be cooler but by Friday it will be even colder.
Warmth continues for one more day
It was another hot day Monday across central and southern Minnesota. Several places hit 90 degrees again. Madison, Appleton and Granite Falls in western Minnesota were each the warmest spots at 93 degrees. The Twin Cities officially hit 89.
We have now seen the most 80-degree or warmer readings this year in the Twin Cities. Monday marked our 100th day and Tuesday will make it 101. The previous record was 98 days set in 1955.
For one-third of those 100 days this year, temperatures reached 90 degrees or warmer, tied for the fourth most.

Tuesday will see summerlike highs again with low to mid-80s in southern Minnesota and 70s north.
Rain, thunderstorms late Tuesday
Scattered storms will develop Tuesday afternoon southwest of Minnesota and move into southwestern and western Minnesota in the evening hours. Those storms will then attempt to spread east and northeast into the overnight Tuesday night.
There’s a slight risk (level 2 of 5) of severe weather in southwestern Minnesota with the main threats being large hail and some high wind gusts.
Temperatures Wednesday will be considerably cooler but still above normal for much of southern Minnesota with highs in the 60s and 70s south but just 50s in far northern Minnesota.
A second blast of cool air
A clipper system coming through Thursday and Friday will deliver another shot of some spotty rain showers.
That system will also pull down some even colder air that will really bring a chill to the state by Friday.
Highs Friday will only be in the 50s in southern Minnesota and 40s north.
Widespread temperatures in the 30s will then settle in for early Saturday morning. That’s a full 50-degree drop in temperatures from Tuesday afternoon to Saturday morning.
