Updraft® - Minnesota Weather News

A dry Sunday, with near-normal temperatures

Fall color update for leaf-peepers

Minnesota saw fairly typical mid-October low temps Sunday morning. Lower 40s were reported in much of the Twin Cities metro area and much of west-central and southern Minnesota. Most of northern Minnesota had Sunday morning lows in the 30s.

Sunday afternoon highs will be mainly in the 50s:

Sunday highs in the metro area will be slightly below the average Twin Cities high of 59 for this date. The upper 50s that are in the forecast for northwestern Minnesota are several degrees warmer than their average high temps on this date.

Dry in most areas

Southwestern Minnesota could see a few scattered Sunday morning sprinkles, but dry weather is expected elsewhere in Minnesota plus western Wisconsin.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model shows the potential rain pattern from noon Sunday to 10 p.m. Sunday:

Fall color report

Portions of northern Minnesota are past peak for fall colors, but beautiful fall colors are still on display across much of Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources fall color report for Minnesota State Parks and Trails looks like this:

When you look at the fall color map, keep in mind that all deciduous trees are included, not just maples.
