Updraft® - Minnesota Weather News

Several lovely fall days coming this week

This week will feature typical mid-October weather with crisp mornings, comfortable afternoons and just a couple chances of a little rain.

Excellent Monday

Patchy fog that developed across mainly central Minnesota from Buffalo to Princeton, Brainerd and McGregor around sunrise Monday morning will be quick to dissipate in the dry air.

The Twin Cities had a low temperature of 39 up to 7 a.m. Northern Minnesota has been cooler, as usual. Grand Rapids and Bemidji were reporting 29 degrees at 7 a.m.

The rest of the day will feature mostly sunny skies and seasonable temperatures. Afternoon highs should range from the low 50s in parts of eastern Minnesota to the low 60s in the west. The Twin Cities should max out around 57 with a northerly breeze of 5-10 mph.

Tuesday a repeat, but warmer

Winds will swing around to the south on Tuesday and warm us above average. High temperatures should range from the upper 50s to mid 60s. The Twin Cities should reach the low 60s.

Clipper system mid-week

A weak weather system from western Canada, usually referred to as an Alberta Clipper when it brings us snow in the winter, will spread rain showers into northwestern Minnesota by Tuesday evening. That system will kick off scattered showers around the state Tuesday night, Wednesday and Wednesday night. Isolated showers could linger into Thursday for eastern Minnesota. This will not be a widespread soaker like late last week.

Temperatures will cool a bit later in the week behind the clipper system, but will stay close to average.

Mostly dry later in the week

Friday, Saturday and Sunday should be dry for most of Minnesota. The Arrowhead of northeastern Minnesota might be the one exception as disturbances from Manitoba could swipe that area with a couple rounds of light showers.
