A nearby high pressure system will bring us pleasant Sunday weather with fairly light winds in most areas. The winds will pick up a bit in far western Minnesota later this afternoon.
Temperature trends
The average Twin Cities high temperature is 55 degrees on Oct. 22. Much of the Twin Cities metro area will reach 60 degrees Sunday afternoon and a few spots in the metro could creep into the lower 60s.
Sunday high temps will be in the 60s in most of the southern half of Minnesota, with mainly 50s elsewhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A few spots in far northeastern Minnesota will see highs in the upper 40s.

Monday highs reach the 60s in much of Minnesota, with 50s to the northeast:
Tuesday high temps range from upper 40s in far northwestern Minnesota to lower 70s in the southeast:
Twin Cities metro area highs will be probably reach the upper 60s on Tuesday, but a few spots in the metro area could touch 70 degrees. Metro area highs retreat to around 60 degrees on Wednesday, followed by mid 50s Thursday and lower 50s on Friday.
Rain chances
The daylight hours today will be rain-free across most of Minnesota.
Patchy showers could move into western Minnesota late Sunday afternoon and early Sunday evening, then that shower chance expands into eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin overnight Sunday night. An isolated thunderstorm is possible at some point overnight. Eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin could also see a few spotty showers early Monday morning.

Tuesday weather looks unsettled, with some periods of showers and thunderstorms in portions of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A few strong thunderstorms could develop Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening, so check forecast updates.
Periods of rain are a good bet on Thursday and into Thursday night. Parts of northwestern Minnesota could see accumulating snow late Thursday into Friday. That snow potential in northwestern Minnesota will become clearer as we get closer to Thursday.
Fall color report
Much of northern Minnesota is past peak for fall colors, but beautiful fall colors are on display in large portions of central and southern Minnesota.
